The table below answers some frequently asked questions about what happens during and after a session. Elements of the different therapies can be combined for each visit.

In general...

Reflexology 
The whole system is worked via manipulation of reflex points on the feet or hands  

Holistic or Deep Tissue Massage
General Massage or work on specific areas such as Tension Back Massage or Face & Scalp Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder)
Gentle, rhythmic massage technique moving the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. The neck is always worked first, followed by the areas specific to each person/session.

Indian Champissage
Works directly on the upper back and arms, shoulders, neck, head and face  
                                        
Kansa Vatki Foot Massage
Feet and lower legs are massaged with ghee or oils using a small three metal bowl

'M' Technique
Method of structured touch to provide a very gentle, soothing massage

What happens during a session?

Reflexology
Work on your feet, lower legs and possibly your hands.
The touch is a light to firm movement of thumbs and fingers assisted by a small amount of beeswax or powder (non-talc). 
No tools or implements are used.

Holistic or Deep Tissue Massage
Using beeswax, oil or powder - light, medium or firm movements are used to work on a combination of some or all of the following:
Upper and lower back, shoulders, legs, arms, abdomen, neck, face and scalp.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder)
The sessions can work 'top to toe' from the scalp to the feet. No oils or medium are used to work on the skin.

Indian Champissage 
Work on your upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, face and scalp.  Oils can be used in the hair - but most people prefer without.            
                           
Kansa Vatki Foot Massage
Feet and lower legs are massaged with a small three metal bowl using ghee or various oils.

'M' Technique
Using oil a very gentle sequence is performed to the back, legs, arms, neck, face and scalp. 

What specific clothing should I wear?

Reflexology
Trousers with a leg wide enough to facilitate massage of the calf muscle, or a skirt/dress.

Holistic or Deep Tissue Massage
None specific

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder)

How long will a course of sessions last?

Reflexology
A typical course lasts between four and six sessions.  Regular maintenance sessions have proved popular with many clients

Holistic or Deep Tissue Massage
One session may ease a particular problem.  Regular sessions, alongside 'homework', may contribute to the minimisation or prevention of further problems.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder)
Initial regular sessions, alongside 'homework', may contribute to the minimisation or prevention of further problems.

Indian Champissage
A typical course lasts for three or four sessions.

Kansa Vatki Foot Massage
Many people who 'work on their feet' enjoy regular maintenance sessions.

'M' Technique
Evidence suggests that regular sessions have a cumulative effect. (see Massage Therapies page).
